Butt Ugly Recoil Pad4/21/2021
It looks really good, however I dont have a clue where this has been. The barrel The receiver The breech block The screws will work for a builder, everything else is useless.
The rifle has flat hammer and breech block pins, rear screws on each of the trigger guard. This has a straight bar extractor, and the breech block is identical to the RB1 REMINGTON. The RB1 and the 1800s rolling block Remington: The RB1 peep iron sights are definitely not going to work, very impractical, they may h ave worked 100 years ago, however we are past all that, its now a modern world of hunting. The RB1 barrel looks promising, its 30 long, and its heavy, really heavy to accommodate the 45-70 high pressure round, if the rounds being used are factory made this barrel will be the best thing hands down with no issues. The RB1 receiver is set up for the RB1 barrel, and with little modification, it will be accommodating the 100 year old parts needed to function. The way that the stock made and how its attached to the receiver and trigger guard with a bent tang would eventually become loose and become unstable for long term use in hunting. A new modern 12 long stock and forend will be sourced, the RB1 trigger guard is out. A old 1800s straight tang trigger guard that matches the receiver will work with a bolt connecting them through the stock, sourcing one would be a challenge. This is the only way to attach a hunting stock on this rolling block and not wood screws. Using new, modern cut, custom built, mahogany furniture that is sealed inside and outside, a solid piece of wood, no knots, no cute grains swirling around. I need the wood grains going with the rifle long ways, which makes for a solid firearm platform, and a finish that is durable, not shinny, just pure raw good looking furniture. The new stock recoil pad will be sourced from a shotgun type that has a lot of cushion. The RB1 trigger assembly sucks big time, its been updated for the lawyers and it will not work having so many useless parts, a sear, an adjustable trigger. The troops in the 1800s and early 1900s carried this firearm, using the same trigger for several decades, and whats good for them is good for me. The RB1 breech block and trigger are not heavy enough in my opinion, they are out. The 100 year old parts will need to be sourced and hand installed they are solid hardened steel. All of the 100 year old parts need to be low luster blued, no fancy colored junk, the old parts are raw hardened 100 year old materials, and short on being ugly they are functional. The RB1 receiver and RB1 barrel are top notch heavy duty quality made so that is where we start, the best of the best. The sling is going to be mounted to the rifle and since the RB1 dont have a sling, I will have one built for the firearm, the swivels will need to be mounted according to the firearm. The old complete Remington rolling block rifle: This is a Remington rolling block rifle (above photo), 1800s.
